서울에서 어떤 분이 이-메일로 영문 조크를 보내오셨습니다.
오바마 대통령을 조롱하는 영문 조크였는데, 요즈음 이명박 대통령이 하는 꼴을 보면, 이명박에게 더 해당되는 조크라 한글로 번역해 보았습니다.
이 조크는 오바마를 이명박으로 대체하면 더 실감나는 조크가 되겠습니다.

“철수가 이명박을 만나다”

청와대 상황실에서 천안함 대책으로 연일 회의하기에 바쁘신 이명박 대통령이 틈을 내서 근처 초등학교를 찾았다.
초등학교 한 교실에서는 선생님이 아이들에게 낱말의 뜻을 가르치고 있었다.
대통령께서 교실에 나타나자, 선생님이 대통령에게 “비극”이란 낱말의 뜻을 아이들에게 가르쳐달라고 부탁했다.
대통령께서는 학생들에게 “비극”이란 낱말에 해당되는 예를 들어보라며 아이들을 둘러보았다.

한 남자아이가 손을 버쩍 들더니, “내가 제일 좋아하는 친구가 농장에 사는데, 그 애가 밭에서 놀다가 경운기에 치여서 죽었다면, 그건 정말 비극이라 할 수 있겠습니다.”
이명박은 고개를 저으면서 남자아이에게 말했다: “아니지, 그건 비극이 아니고, 우발사고라 할 수 있겠다.”

이번에는 한 여자아이가 손을 들더니 말했다. “학생 46명을 실은 스쿨 버스가 낭떨어지를 굴러서 그 학생들이 전부 죽었다면, 그건 정말 비극이라 할 수 있겠습니다.”
이명박은 이번에도 고개을 저으면서 여자아이에게 말했다: “아니야, 그것도 비극은 아니고, 큰 손실이라고 말할 수는 있겠지.”

학생아이들은 전부 입을 다물고 대통령을 쳐다보았다. 이제는 손드는 아이들도 없었다. 대통령은 반 아이들을 둘러보았다.
“누구든 비극이란 낱말의 진짜 예를 한번 들어봐요!”

교실 맨 뒤에 앉았던 철수가 손을 들더니, 조용히 말했다: “이 대통령님과 영부인께서 타신 비행기가 우리 편 군사들이 쏜 미사일에 맞아서 산산조각이 났다면, 그게 바로 비극이겠습니다.”
“옳거니!” 이명박은 손벽까지 치면서, 철수에게 물었다. “그런데 그게 왜 비극인지, 설명할 수도 있겠니?”

철수란 녀석은 아주 침착하게 대답했다: “비극일 수밖에 없지요. 왜냐하면 그건 큰 손실도 아니겠고, 아마 우발사고도 아닐테니까, 비극으로 표현하는게 맞을 겁니다.”

Little Johnny meets Barak

Barack Obama was visiting a primary school and he visited one of the classes. They were in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings.

The teacher asked the president if he would like to lead the discussion on the word 'tragedy.' So our illustrious
president asked the class for an example of a 'tragedy.'

One little boy stood up and offered: 'If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs over him and kills him, that would be a tragedy.'

'No,' said Obama, 'that would be an accident.'

A little girl raised her hand: 'If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy.'

'I'm afraid not,' explained Obama. 'That's what we would call great
loss.'

The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Obama searched the room.

'Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?'

Finally at the back of the room, Little Johnny raised his hand. In a quiet voice he said: 'If the plane carrying you and Mrs. Obama
was struck by a 'friendly fire' missile and blown to smithereens that would be a tragedy.'

'Fantastic!' exclaimed Obama. 'That's right. And can you tell me why that would be tragedy?'

'Well,' says the boy, 'It has to be a tragedy, because it certainly wouldn't be a great loss... and it probably wouldn't be an accident either.'
